[Wind Flight]

Lightningwind padded towards the fresh-kill pile, mouth full of a mouse's warm, furry body. Its delicious scent hung around her temptingly. She wasn't hungry enough to take it herself, though, so she put it with the other fresh-kill and walked away through the snow. Her soft, silver, warm fur flowed in the wind. She heard the soft crunch of snow under her paw pads, which were feeling numb from the cold. She made it to the warrior's den, and sat in the entrance out of the snow, waiting for something to do. She wished for leaf-bare to end, to feel the warm sunlight on her pelt, and for someone to talk to through the season of cold and hunger, and for every season after.

Twistedbranch stumbled out of the elder's den, stretching his legs one by one. Loudly, at least to him, they groaned and popped. Then, he shuffled across camp, eager to quiet his stomach, which seemed to be caterwauling in hunger. For a moment, he paused as a warrior, Lightningwind, deposited a soft mouse onto the pile. Then, he leaned it, nabbing it for himself. 
He glanced at the warrior, then found a slightly sunny patch to settle down and eat.

[Wind Flight]

Lightningwind watched as the elder walked across camp and grabbed the mouse. She noticed that he was looking a bit older than she'd realized before. She waited a moment, then decided to go talk to him. She padded over to Twistedbranch. "Hi," she meowed cheerfully. She couldn't think of anything else to say, so she waited silently until he would respond.

The elder silently listened to the goings on of the clan. Everything had mostly faded into a dull white noise, until he heard a cheerful voice that was clearly speaking to him. Glancing at the cat who greeted him, Twistedbranch recognized the silver she-cat as Lightningwind, the cat who caught the prey he was currently chewing. 
"Greetings young warrior," he grunted, taking another small bite. 
For a moment, he considered offering to share the plump kill with the warrior. After all, she had caught it. However, he decided that if she wanted it, she would have taken it to eat instead of depositing it on the fresh-kill pile. 
"So, prey seems to be running well," he said, acknowledging the mouse.

Lightningwind sat down next to him. "Mm-hmm," she meowed in agreement. "At least we've got something that's not snow or sickness." She smiled, glad for the good prey, then turned her head away as a hard gust of wind blew snow into her face.

Twistedbranch allowed Lightningwind to sit beside him. He was about to scoot over, offering more space to the young warrior, but decided against moving. After all, sitting beside one another offered up a bit more warmth, which was welcome on this Leaf-bare day. 
"Yes, an alternative to disease is always very welcomed."
The old cat could not help but snort as a puff of snow blew in the cat's face. 
"It does not seem that we are done with snow."

Lightningwind shook her head to toss off some of the white dust. It only sort of helped-- some of it melted into her silvery fur and wet her face. Her tailtip flicked, showing that the warrior was slightly annoyed as her long fur dripped cold water onto her gray nose. "Guess not," she laughed. "And I thought it would melt soon, but it only melts in my pelt!" She gently dug around in the snow with a paw, for no reason other than that her paw was already cold and wet, and the snow did feel good under her paws.

"Better it melt on your pelt than mine," grunted the old cat, finishing off his mouse. 
Despite these grumpy words, Twistedbranch enjoyed the young warrior's happy-go-lucky attitude. 
"Though you better watch out. If you keep letting your fur stay all wet, you could freeze into an icicle. And you cannot catch me prey if you are too frozen to function."

Lightningwind laughed quietly at the elder's words. She shook her head, flinging just a little bit of water around her. "Well that seems like the quickest way to get dry!" she purred. She realized how cold and wet she really was, and fluffed herself up and started licking herself to get dry, since she knew Twistedbranch wouldn't like having more water flicked at him.

Twistedbranch screwed up his face as flying droplets hit his pelt. 
"Yeah, you might get dry." he grumbled, rubbing his paw over the wet speckles. 
He twisted, licking himself dry, the same as the warrior beside him. Fortunately, his shorter pelt allowed him to dry out much quicker than a cat such as Lightningwind. Of course, it also meant that he did not have as much fluffy warmth.
