Bearstar had rounded her warriors up a little earlier than usual- it was a bit warmer than it had been over the last few moons, and she wanted to enjoy the cool evening. Leaf-Bare's end was drawing near, and soon enough little shoots of green would be peeking through the snow, and she'd be able to watch the ice in the river snap apart and drift away. Followed by her clanmates, they leapt through the waterfall's edges, the ends of their coats quickly drying as they ran through the forest, darting around trees and moonlit stones. They traced the long shadows of the farmhouse, and dipped into the tall grasses of the meadow. Rushing through the grasses, Bearstar closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the feeling of the wind and the grass against her flanks, and the chorus of pawsteps behind her. Gradually she slowed her pace, until her clan came to a gentle halt, bursting forward from the meadow to enter the clearing where the old monsters lay as still as ever.
After quickly checking in with her deputy and medicine cat, the brown she-cat poised herself at the bottom of the leader's carriage, pouncing to the top to take a seat. A light feeling of pride fluttered in her chest; MistClan had arrived first, even ahead of IvyClan, though they seemed to pride themselves on punctuality. This was a good opportunity for her to really refine what she was going to address this meeting. Foxes in the forest were a bad sign, but a band of new apprentice had grown into their warrior rank. The nursery had kits in it, and Bearstar herself had begun to consider offspring of her own. Balancing her duties with the early responsibilities of kit rearing would be difficult, but the idea of one day naming her own children as warriors of the clan brought out secret little purr of joy.
Turning her gaze back towards her clan, she considered her relationship with them. In a way, they were all like her children, though some were older than her, but the desire for direct family had never left the leader since a certain young tabby tom had left the clan. Even so, her heart warmed at the sight of her clanmates, even more considering their bravery in recent times. However, a wave of cat scents dragged her from her thoughts, and she dropped her jaw open slightly to catch it- which clan was approaching next? The incoming scents mingled too closely to accurately guess.
