click.....clack.....click.....clack....
The tom didn't even flinch as the monster rumbled across the tracks. He had his claws dug into the ground for balance. The ground shook every time. He had mastered the safest distance to be, and click clack click clack was almost soothing. His one good eye was incredibly focused, the other currently swollen and nearly closed. The pain had been too much lately, if it weren't for his stupid sister he wouldn't be this way. He curled his lip slightly at the ugly thought. This is where the dark tom came on a daily basis to reflect on his life decisions. The best one he had made was following Mothstar to this territory.
Eveningblaze felt robbed back in his old clan. He was a fine warrior, skilled in the art of battle. It was a skill he took pride in. However, when he had his accident, he didn't even earn his name when he recovered. That was a big blow to his self-esteem. He had helped fight off a badger that alone made him worthy of his name....but nope....he never got it until right before he left. His repayment to his old leader? Leaving a few dawns later.
He had been loyal to Mothstar, no one ever questioned it. He had also been thought worthy enough to get an apprentice. It was a shame what happened to her. The only thing that put light in his heart. He was not cruel, he was not evil, but he was cold, and isolated. Didn't talk much, only when spoken too. Did his warrior duties, he did simply what he had to do and no more.
Sometimes he wondered what happened to Cherrypaw. She was another who had tickled his heart strings. However he left her. He couldn't stay he had to leave, and her loyalty was to their previous leader. He hadn't seen her at the border when he visited from time to time. He hoped she was okay, but he never got lost into a negative thought. Perhaps she was busy, perhaps she had kits now, perhaps she was indeed in StarClan. Who knew.
The clicking and clacking came to an end, the ground returned to a normal state. The tom sheathed his claws, and accepted the tasks he would have for the day. This is what he did every day at sunhigh. It was how he started his day. He often did a lot of his work during the night, thus his sunrise was sunhigh in theory. "Here is to another day...." He murmured before turning around slowly. While he was out here he figured he might as well patrol the borders. Just in case...he didn't need any trouble with any critters...or cats.
