Violetpaw padded through the thick IvyClan forest. It was unusual for her to go out alone, her mentor and even her mother often didn't allow it. But there she was- the middle of the night, on a solo mission. Not a hunting mission, no, a research mission. She had assumed she could just walk out of camp, but after many tries, it appeared midday was not a good time for that. So, when everyone except a few older cats guarding the camp was asleep, the ginger-white cat took her chance and went out into the night. With extreme care, she placed her paws. Hunting with others taught her that if she walked normally, the prey could sense it and go away. How? She wasn't sure, but she had some theories.
The first scent of the night hit her nose. A squirrel! But it wasn't close, she would have to track it down, not that it would be much of a problem. Violetpaw was a great tracker. Sometimes when she hunted with others, she would pick up a scent trail only to see the others ignore it. It was hard to notify others, even with the tail-signs she and Slowy had been working on. They were pretty hard, and lots of cats didn't even know them. It was easier to watch and learn than inventing something new altogether. Watching and learning, that was what she was testing out now. Her pace came to a halt when the scent was super strong. It lingered all around, but mostly in a tree. Well, not ideal, but that could work. Looking closely, Violetpaw could see the furry-tailed creature sitting on a branch, backlighted by the moon. It was eating something, and hadn't even noticed her! The she-cat prepared herself, and after one long breath, she unleashed a throat-rumble with her mouth open. For anyone in the hearing world, it would sound as an ear-piercing, much too loud yowl. And of course, the squirrel bolted away hearing it. Wow, it worked, it was true! She was right! Others could sense that!
Refreshed with the newfound victory, Violetpaw knew she wasn't done yet. After a long walk to the thinner woods, away from where she had scared the squirrel, she tracked down a mouse. Seeing it hide in the underbrush, she was ready for the next part of the experiment. Up-down, hold-close, open-close, pop-close,
''Violetpaw!''
(hope you enjoyed the story of the bean speaking! now keep in mind that she sounds horrible right because without hearing how to pronounce something it always sounds bad, but I wanted to write the 'violetpaw' full-out for dramatic effect™)
