Blackheart had been out hunting when he had hear the pathetic mewling of a half dead kit. Immediately, he ceased tracking a squirrel he had spotted earlier and began trying to find the source of the noise. Any good warrior would do the same, he hoped. The kit was unlikely to be an IvyClan cat, but a kit was a kit - and if one was in trouble, he would always help.
It didn't take him long to find the tiny cat. The kit was pure white, meaning he stood out completely in the green foliage. The small thing had already opened his eyes so he had to be at least a week or so old, but something was wrong. New kits couldn't see well in general, yes, but this kit seemed... Well, he was moving like he had no idea what was in front of him.
Was he blind? The was certainly a possibility, and it would explain why he had seemingly been abandoned. Perhaps his mother assumed he would die anyway and therefore had decided to just leave him? While Blackheart thought that was a cruel and unacceptable thing to do, he could certainly see why a loner would think such a thing.
Were the kit in better health, he would have waited for a while to see if a parent returned to it. He needed food, though. Food and warmth, and he wasn't going to get either of those things in the middle of the forest. Thankfully, Blackheart knew where he could find such a thing for him. Olivenose was back at camp with their first litter. All five of the kits were beautiful an strong, and their father was incredibly proud of them. With kits like that, one more joining them wouldn't hurt, right?
The warrior gently picked the kit up, ignoring the startled shouts from the unsuspecting child, and quickly made his way back to the IvyClan camp. When he got back, he immediately scurried into the nursery - ignoring the confused glanced from fellow members of the clan.
Olivenose was sleeping. Quietly, Blackheart placed the new kit down with the others before moving to gently prod her with a paw. "Olivenose." He whispered. "Olivenose, wake up. There's an issue."
