After having been through several litters, Swanstream knew what to expect when she was about to kit. Still, it seemed like she had gotten quite a bit larger than usual. If it had been her first, she would have worried - not only that something was wrong, but in that Ravenbranch would have turned on her for losing her looks. Still, as her winter coat gave away to a spring coat, and she grew steadily larger.
And then, of course, the day had come and gone. She hardly even wanted to bother Shadowfall about it. She, after all, had the most experience in this area - not him. She knew her body, the subtle pains, and so had retreated to her own nest and calmly warned the other two she-cats what was to come. And then...
Well, it had happened. She had given birth; a relatively comfortable and well-set birth, despite it's length. Each kit had come out and immediately took to her side; where she could comfortably keep an eye on them. In all, six small bundles were put to rest at her side; six fine young cats, four of which handsome little toms, and two she-cats.
She purred with delight as she worried over her final kit; a little greyish white bundle of slightly-slick fur, nudging him over to her side, doing her best to try and juggle the little ones already nestled there. She looked up at the Medicine Cat and gave him a cursory nod.
"No pain, then?" Shadowfall asked her, gently taking one of his front paws and pressing lightly against her abdomen, which was significantly less swollen than it had been moments ago.
"Not anything out of the ordinary- I'm fine." She said, her voice tired, but clearly happy. She would not slip away in the night, nor would any of her fine children as far as she could be concerned. "If you wouldn't...mind, could you let Ravenbranch know? I wouldn't want to leave him out there alone any more; he may try to climb the cave walls." She winced ever so slightly as one of her children - her slick brown and white daughter, gave a bit of a stronger-than-expected nip at her delicate underbelly.
