With the sun shining down upon them, Shadowstar could almost allow himself to relax a little bit. The world seemed calm, and there was always something about the brightness of the day that allowed everything to be seen as calm. There were still missing clanmates however, something that had been troubling him for some time. And the fact that he was doing double duty in positions was running him quite ragged.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet me in the center of our cavern." He called, rising to his paws from his former reclining position, watching as the specks of sunlight suddenly appeared to have cats from the shadows appearing into them. He noticed the smallest of their bunch and nodded his head towards them. Yes, this was there time.
"Today is a day that I would like to remark upon a our good fortune and bad - but as always, let us start with the good. Shufflepaw, could you come forward, please." This, by far, was one of the more enjoyable moments in his career - calling forward apprentices for reaching their true potential.
"Shufflepaw, you have completed your training with aplomb, and are ready to become a full warrior of Rootclan. For your quick-heart and your eagerness to always plunge forward into whatever task is set for you, I name you Shufflestep. Let the clan acknowledge you for your devotion to them for the rest of your life."
He allowed the other cats to cheer and carry on for a moment before silencing them with a flick of his tail. "The next news I would like to bring up, is the fear for our missing clanmates - those who have been taken by the cats of twoleg place. I know there is a desire to get them back and see their faces, but there is still a great need for caution in doing so." He tried to meet their eyes for anyone who seemed to be angered by this, ready to cut him off at a moment's notice.
"I feel the time to act is soon, but as always we need to be wary of an outright attack. Therefore I ask that any of you who feel you are up to the challenge, to come see me privately sometime this morning. I am looking for a patrol's worth of cats who are willing to leave the comfort of their camp for what might be several days...in order to breach the very heart of their territory. It will not be an easy feat...but it will be an important one."
For the time being, he was prepared to leave his clan with this knowledge, and so concluded this meeting with a bow of his head.
