Everything was dark.
Kestrelkit could smell milk, other kits, moss.
She was surrounded by a warm mass of something soft, which had a much stronger smell of milk and kits.
Kestrelkit forced her eyes open, bright sunlight flooding her vision.
She mewled in slight distress as she shut them quickly, turning around clumsily before opening them again.
She was surrounded by a warm, soft, silver mass. She sat up straighter and poked her head out.
The first thing she saw, were other small cats like her. Some of them were playing and laughing, but the two around her were still sleeping. She looked around, and saw a slivery tabby she-cat that was sleeping as well. She hopped up onto her mother back and mewed again.
"Mama?"
